Save Our Post Offices

.

After months of specualtion it has been announced that the Balcombe Road Post Office in Horley and the Station Road East Post office in Oxted have been earmarked for closure.

I urge all local residents to sign the below petitions to save the post offices and participate fully in the public consulation into the closures.

Balcombe Road Post Office Petition
.

Balcombe Road Post Office is a vital part of the social and economic fabric of our local community. Its closure would obviously affect all existing customers, but would have a major impact on the elderly and less mobile.

The postmistress, Ms Johal, is an asset to the local community, contributing a valued service from which we all benefit; it would be a real tragedy if this closure went ahead.

The closure plan is especially unjustified in light of the large scale housing development taking place in the Balcombe Road catchment area; and we are very concerned about the ability of the Post Office in Consort Way to cope with extra demand without serious inconvenience to customers.

Station Road East Post Office Petition

Oxted is a town of two halves, divided by the railway. This Post Office is a long-established business and its closure would have a detrimental effect on the trading environment in the east of the town. It would force people to travel further and closure would particularly inconvenience the elderly and the disabled.
