Following a campaign by East Surrey MP, Peter Ainsworth, Surrey Highways have announced a significant improvement in the number of pot holes being dealt with in the area.
Mr Ainsworth took up the issue of potholes following a spate of complaints from residents across his constituency.
New figures reveal that the number of complaints about potholes in East Surrey fell from 1115 in 6 months up to May this year to 590 in the most recent figures.
Peter Ainsworth Commented:
“I am very pleased that Surrey Highways seems to be getting their act together on this important issue. I fully understand the irritation caused to motorists from poorly maintained roads”.
“However there is still some way to go. I am continuing to monitor this situation closely, and I urge everyone who spots a pothole to report it to the County on 08456 009 009.”
