Responding to the Health and Safety Executive report into the outbreak of foot and mouth disease, Peter Ainsworth, Shadow Environment Secretary, said:.
“This is a bland and inconclusive report which takes us barely any distance beyond what has already been reported and endlessly discussed.
“It is no surprise but none the less shocking that the report identifies a major bio security failure at a Government laboratory and laboratory licensed by DEFRA as the two most likely sources of the outbreak of this disease.
“This report will certainly do nothing to reassure farmers in Surrey and across the country.”
