Peter Ainsworth has pressed Surrey County Council for answers on breaches of planning consent by WBB Minerals at North Park Farm, Godstone.
WBB have admitted that they breached their planning consent at North Park Farm by failing to build underground tunnels and covered buildings for the transportation and storage of sand. They have also admitted to building their processing plant 10ft higher than approved. Surrey County Council (SCC) has invited WBB to apply for retrospective planning permission.
Following a recent meeting with the Quarry Observation Group, Peter Ainsworth wrote to Andrew Stones, Development Control Team Manager at Surrey County Council, expressing asking for “a considered response” to a range of questions that still remain about the way that Surrey County Council has handled the breeches.
Peter Ainsworth said:
“Nearby residents have suffered from noise and from dust clouds which have had a significant impact on their quality of life. Planning conditions are put in place for very good reasons and if they have been breached then it is the responsibility of Surrey County Council to inspect and enforce them.”
He went on to say:
“If the response from SCC continues to be unsatisfactory then I am prepared to take this matter to the Local Government Ombudsman.”
