Peter Ainsworth, MP for East Surrey, and Crispin Blunt, MP for Reigate, have today declined an invitation to take part in a workshop to consider the design of a new village to be built on the site of Redhill Aerodrome.
Speaking about the workshop, Peter Ainsworth said:
“Redhill Aerodrome Ventures Limited are acting in their usual ham fisted way. The invitation to local stakeholders to participate in this workshop is an invitation to waste their time. The fact they have not even approached the planners to ascertain whether such a development is feasible indicates a detachment from reality and a lack of respect for due process. I have therefore decided not to take part in this process.”
He went on to say:
“The proposals relate to greenbelt land. The Greenbelt policy exists for a very good reason and should not be disregarded. Nor should we ignore the fact that this development will place further pressure on local infrastructure which is already under considerable strain”
