Commenting on the news that news that Gatwick Airport has been sold to Global Infrastructure Partners for £1.51 billion, Mr Ainsworth said:

“I note the sale of Gatwick Airport which has been planned for some time.  It is far too early to tell what implications this may have for the future development of Gatwick and its relationship with local residents.

“I am in regular contact with the current management of the Airport and I look forward to meeting the new owners in due course.”
