In response to a recent letter from the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), East Surrey MP, Peter Ainsworth, has urged the VOA to make a quick decision regarding Lingfield’s eligibility for rate reduction.

The appeal was made in order to counteract the loss of revenue following the prolonged, disruptive roadworks that have plagued Lingfield High Street for the last seven weeks.

Ainsworth Supports Lingfield Rate Reduction Request Print

East Surrey MP, Peter Ainsworth, has applauded all local efforts to resolve the problems that are being caused by the Lingfield High Street roadworks and, most recently, the rate reduction request made by Tandridge Chief Executive, Stephen Weigel.

In a recent letter to the Valuation Office Agency, Mr Ainsworth supported all the sentiments that were raised by Mr Weigel on behalf of Lingfield traders, who have lost significant revenue due to the unplanned, prolonged works.

Action on Harts Lane HGVs Print

East Surrey MP, Peter Ainsworth, has expressed his satisfaction with Surrey County Council’s decision to install traffic signs designed to prevent HGV lorries from using Harts Lane in Godstone. The move comes after Peter contacted the Highways department and the police on behalf of local residents.

 The signs, which will be placed at the eastern end of the A22 junction hopefully before the end of this financial year, will come as a relief to local residents, who have expressed deep concern about HGVs using the single-track road as a short-cut.
